Figuring out this web stuff...

So today you can see I finally figured out how to pimp my blog a little. Yay!  I have been working on a new website and logo and I am going a bit crazy I have to admit.  I am so indecisive when it comes to design.  I love vintage and modern design so I am trying to combine the two to create a website that represents me and my style.  Decisions, decisions....  Well I have never posted a blog without a picture, it feels kinda weird to me, so here are a couple from from the butterfly show Dave and I  went to this week.

Mya's first birthday

I was excited to get some girl time with Amanda and her sweet little Mya today. Amanda has been a good friend of mine for about ten years.  She has supported my photography career since my first days in college, a long time ago.....  I absolutely love photographing her daughter Mya.  She is so cute and girly, just like her mommy!

Happy Birthday Mya and thanks Amanda!

Newborn pictures

I always go straight to the bargain bin at the bookstore. I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful Anne Geddes book for under $10.  It is an autobiography called "A Labor of Love" that is loaded with tons of images from her infamous baby shoots.  She also writes about the incredible creative  journey that has driven her to success in the photography business.  She talks about the struggles and doubts she has had with her self and her work.  She talks about her long journey to success and how she might have given up if  not for her very supportive husband.  Her story was beautiful and real. It is inspiring to know someone who has achieved such success once had the same fears and doubts as myself.  I think as an artist this is what keeps you pushing your self farther. It is the passion that drives you.  Thanks for the inspiration Mrs. Geddes!

As you know from my previous blogs my sister just had a baby.  I wanted to do something fun and different for his newborn pictures.  I went to the pottery store and bought all of these different pots to use as props.  Very Anne Geddes of me.  If only they had a pea pod costume!  When we set up I realized Kegan isn't as small as I thought.  He did not like being squeezed into the beautiful bright orange pot I bought for him.  I also bought a hanging basket to use but I don't think my brother-in-law was too happy about me wanting to hang his baby in a basket from a tree.  So we used this barrel type thing instead.  He was finally comfy and the pictures turned out beautiful.   They aren't very  Anne Geddes but they are very Nikita Gross!
I threw a few of Eli in too, he looked too cute in the barrel not to share with you all!

Boudoir Sessions are fun!

What is Boudoir Photography?

Sexy, captivating, sensuous, tasteful, beautiful, classy, photography.
Who is Boudoir Photography for?
Boudoir is for everyone!  Boudoir photography makes a great wedding gift for your future husband or anniversary gift for your husband of twenty years.  Though it might sound a little intimidating at first most women come out of their sessions feeling more confident and sexy than they did when we started.
How does it work?
My Boudoir sessions take place in the privacy of your home.  If your home is not an option nice hotel room makes a beautiful boudoir studio.  The session is private and relaxed.  No one will see your images but me.  The session will last around two hours. This allows you time to relax and for outfit changes.  I will do my best to ensure you are comfortable throughout the shoot.  When you book your session I will provide you with a list of tips that will ensure you feel and look your best.  An  8x8 album is included with every session.
Feel free to contact me for more information and session prices at http://www.nikitagrossphotography.com/

Lindsay and David's Wedding

Lindsay and David were married Saturday evening at Walton Park in Kentucky. Though rain was in the forecast, it turned out being the perfect day for an outdoor wedding.  Lindsay wore a timeless lace dress that looked beautiful on her.  I fell in love with the vintage feel of this wedding and took advantage of the natural surroundings to create images that would reflect that look.

Thanks Lindsay and David for allowing me to be part of your special day.  I hope you are enjoying your honeymoon!
